Now they plant to the “bar ditch”
Live in town and are

Stir up their dogs by 
Knocking on their doors
It's just permission you want 
You’d think you were 
Asking for a short arm inspection
Bugger she may look cold
German wire, English pointer, German short hair
Custer county cure, but she is

Catch a buzz, you know ,

So set her loose 
Check your loads 
These Wiley ring necks will sit right by
The duly door ….pop!… pop!
Pull their motors, set em on ice
One year the stream out of the red brick
Rubble a regular testosterone rooster comb

Next time it’s all hullaballoo howling hens
Gumbo mud galoshes
Handlebar hot dish
Another hundred dollar holiday
The winds too strong for hats
So we drop to the Cooley
And hope the roosters do too
When your life is crippled by the chains of responsibility 
You learn to make do, improvise, any love is good love
A real cowboy can rope with any rope
So when your dog 
Is Bugger 
Lifetime lottery winner in the k9 gene pool
Weather doesn’t matter
Rain, sleet, wind, and we hope snow 
She will trust honor obey
Awe the mouse point and pounce 
Look! Look! The possum point
Steer clear! Shoot quickly! There’s the skunk squash
The rabbit yap
Porcupine crawl, buck snort 
The half lock grass point

To share life with a creature besides man is most rewarding. They ask for so little and give so much. somedays nothing can take the place of tender moments shared with my favorite Arab as we raced the winds together just "us"..just for fun . I too miss her smell, her hot snorts on my shoulder and the passion we felt for the race. This poem expresses it all and a delight to read.

Bugger could really hunt, I sure do miss her.But I have all these thoughts tied to her burrowed away in my head, it felt good to share.
