Kelsey & Nadia

Kelsey & Nadia

A Story by Courtney Ball
"

Kelsey wants to borrow something from Nada, she no but Kelsey takes it anyways. What happens when Nadia gets too angry about it?

"

“Mom! what’s the weather supposed to be like?” Kelsey shouts to mother while looking over her outfit in the mirror.

“It’s gonna be a cold one today sweetie, might want to bring a sweater.” Her mother calls back. Kelsey looks at her outfit again, groans, then leaves the room walking into the room next to hers.

“Nadia, can I borrow your sweater just for today? I’ll give it back as soon as I get home.” Nadia glances up from her book, shakes her said saying no.

“Nadia, please? It’s going to be cold today and mines not washed yet!” Again, Nadia said no. Kelsey glares at her sister, walks over to her closet, grabs the sweater then walks out. As Kelsey was walking down the stairs her sister runs up and pushes her, making Kelsey fall. As Kelsey tumbles down the stairs Nadia says,

“I told you NOT to take my sweater!” When Kelsey comes to a stop Nadia walks up, grabs the sweater from Kelsey’s limp body and starts to walk away.

“You can get up you know, you don’t have to pretend.” Nadia glances back and looks at her sisters still body.

“Kelsey..” She says. Nadia runs up to her grabs her and starts trying to shake her awake.

“Kelsey! Kelsey wake up!” She says, still, her sister’s eyes do not open.

“Kelsey! Wake up this isn’t funny anymore!” She starts to shout. Nadia’s eyes start to well up in tears as she sits there with her sister’s body in her lap.

“Kelsey, honey we’ve got to go.” Her mother says while walking in. She glances down seeing her daughter’s lifeless body lay in Nadia’s lap.

“Kelsey! Nadia what did you do!?” Her mother shouts while picking up Kelsey. Nadia shakes her head and continues to cry.

“Go start the car! We’ve got to take her to the hospital!” Her mother yells while throwing Nadia the keys. Nadia rushes out starting the car while her mother picks up Kelsey carrying her to the car. They all get in and they drive off.

A few minutes later they are at the hospital, with Kelsey checked in, waiting for the doctor.

“Hello Mrs. Edwards, i’m doctor Pence, I am working with your daughter.” The doctor says while walking in. Nadia and Kelseys mother nod.

“I am very sorry to say this but, Kelsey has fallen into a coma. We’re afraid she might not make it. At this time there is nothing we can do.” The doctor gives the mother and Nadia time to cry and comfort each other.

“I’m afraid we have to ask, Mrs. Edwards, do you want to keep Kelsey on life support or pull the plug?” The doctor said with a sincere look in his eyes. Nadia and her mother exchange looks as the mother looks to the doctor, sighs, then says…

“Pull the plug.”

What the hell? Damn... This story was mad intense. "Pull the plug"? That's cold... Nice, compelling writing throughout. Feel free to look at my writing too if you get the chance.
