NO SIGNAL AND LOW BATTERYA Poem by Count Humilussilence of meBig hallways and small rooms Shallow tombs Buried in a bad memory Cold blankets This generation is the canary in the mine shaft This room is smaller There is less to notice Less to detest even I glue a mirror back together I notice a girl getting on the bus I wonder where she goes at night When all is quiet When all is loud When she has her space When she needs escape Why was she born? Why was I blind? Why didn’t I let dead moments lie? The sun might never leave The leaves might always fall But I won’t be here for her Or you after all Exponential selfishness as we grow As we strive Aspire Like Kanye West said, “…you’re either getting laid or paid while the other is getting away…” © 2009 Count HumilusReviews
