smoke & azure rae.....

smoke & azure rae.....

A Poem by brianna vega

she focused on the wall in front of her
on a spot a lump just slightly larger then the rest
the wall was cool against her hands as she leaned into it
trying to ignore the grip around her ribs, her waist and stomache
pulling tighter and tighter as missy chattered away about how much fun they would have that night
truth is rae didnt even want to go
she hated these events
she hated stuffing herself into this gown that missy begged her to purchase
it was beautiful of course and rae was stunning
every girl in the store didnt know whether to stare in admiration or jealousy
a look which inspired mixed and odd feelings into rae
a look that made her feel visible in a time where she felt herself disappearing
it wasnt enough that she would be surrounded by friends and their families

she knew she should be happy for andrea

but she felt so lonely at these things

jealous even

as she watched people dance around her

she wanted nothing to do with it all

yet she was to beautiful to simply fade into the backround

so instead she planted a false smile

slipped to the bathroom as often as possible

and tried not to wish he was next to her.
