A Poem by brianna vega

i used to sit alone in restaurants waiting
book in hand

shifting eyes
pretending not to watch the door
doing my best not to gaze at every person walking in
disappointment in my heart
sipping coffee

another wasted day

I’ll hear your drunken apologies later
forgive forgive forgive
i let this happen so many times before

how could i expect more

waiting is ruined
lateness irritates me
it taints the clean slates of others
cause every time i have to wait

i remember you, my drunken dear

sitting there
tired

alone

waiting…waiting… waiting

Simple images, but really easy to relate to and powerful. Effective.

Love your style of writing :) Another great piece- the end especially was poignant and perfectly conclusive. Loved it :)
Great job!
