manic

manic

A Poem by brianna vega

im ready
the dark has faded again and mania set in
another cycle
of joy and pain
the sun rises and then it sets
like john i have a fear of the west
yet it seems thats where i always find myself
i wish i could lay next to the joshua trees tonight
warm desert sand supporting my heavy tired
limbs
im the dead cacti
prickly needles and juicy flesh
succulent

It brings to mind my insomnia, only more beautifully explained. I love the tone of the piece and the way it makes you 'see' it rather than read it. It was like standing in a theater, watching a move, made of words. Fantastic.

Polar opposites can attract, as well. How sweetly divine this poem is.

just as the prickly cacti contain juicy flesh, all things contain a polar opposite.
