insomnia is so delicious

insomnia is so delicious

A Poem by brianna vega

my days are blending

my existence faint

food is bland noise too loud

i crave sleep

but closed eyes leads to nightmares

where great artist haunt mee

frida kahlo stares with heated eyes as i lay here in my bed

sweating and shivering in piles of sheets

my stomache screams but theres nothing to eat

and my throats too dry to swallow

but i still go out side for another cigarette

i can go on all night

staring at the moon but she no longer sings me to sleep

the stars are all gone playing hide and seek

so i go inside to write but nothing comes to mind

ill stay up all night having conversations with the people in my mind

as i draw them hoping they come to life

hoping somehow theyll walk offf this white page

keep me company for the night

yet i know they are unreal

so i leave them for a book as the sun slowly rises

pale yellow behind frida kahlo

lighting her up like fire

and she keeps staring with heated eyes

monkeys on her shoulders and a bird round her neck

the words on this page burns my eyes

but my thoughts are running from me so fast

 i cant write them down

have i driven myself insane?
