groupthink

groupthink

A Poem by cooncomemasi
"

jump

"

You say you're one thing

And what if it turns out

You're not

Promises of

Security

And prosperity

A better life

Stakes would be higher

If I had children and a wife

You want my time

You want my money

Commitment

Paranoia, fear and doubt

Creep into my mind

Love is blind

You're convinced

So enthusiastic

But I don't know anymore

I can always walk out

There's the door

A part of me wants to ride this out

See where this goes

To take a chance

Or play it safe

The cause is good

If it's true

It could all be so good

And I won't fall alone

There's a group of us

The others have more to lose

We're all jumping off the bridge

But that doesn't make it ok

Your approval of this course of action

Encourages me

Are we buying a lie?

I guess we'll wait and see

You say you're one, what if it turns out you are not. I think this serves as a rhetorical question, and as such should go with question mark(?)
