Response to Sadie Hawkins-Choices

Response to Sadie Hawkins-Choices

A Poem by Julesy

Scared

Fear

Oh no my dear

Don’t be on this sinking boat

When it disappears.

Sleeping under my skin

Is something I long to get rid of.

If I keep with my most cunning vice.

I know it won’t be too nice

It will punish me with all it’s might

It will tarnish my body

And keep me in this daunting night

But if I leave

And betray it

Maybe the array of thoughts that scatter me

Will come together peacefully.

It’s scary to choose

When the choice seems so clear

If you were ensnarled in my brain

You’d wonder how I’m sane.

While insanity’s definition

Is nothing to be ashamed of

The reality in my brain

My most cunning vice makes me go insane.

You sleep sound

Sleeping fine

So don’t you dare tell me it’s my time

I will not die

Death, go away

No one awakend you today

No one wants to be in your grasp

No one wants your biting asps.

I don’t choose you

Not anymore

So stop finding me

Respect my choice.

You choose to stay?

I did not invite you here

Did I not make that clear?

Leave!

I chose you once

So leave me be

I do not want your help

In setting me free.
