The Enemy I Prowl For

The Enemy I Prowl For

A Poem by Julesy
"

"You are your own worst enemy"

"

It would be nice to know

Life's mysteries through all

The summer, winter, spring , and fall

To why, to how, to when, to where

I am taken up through these trembling stairs

Inside a tower

Rapunzel like

Be trapped within, chained with all my might

Who's the enemy, not you or your brother

Nor anyone who is light with their weather

But who is the enemy I prowl for?

This person locking me, in these elderwood doors?

They cannot be broken

WIth magic or prayer

Not even a mighty dragon slayer!

I wish wish wish won't even happen

My sorrows and dreams, I burden people with

I am a maze, they get sick of getting lost in

They try, and try, and try, and try

I thank them for their loyalty

But who is the enemy I prowl for?

This person locking me, in these elderwood doors

An uninvited brick, so many times thrown at me

They look to, to haunt, and maim

And with their power they do contain

A swift scepter of cunning, is born into my head

Lies planted in my brain

Blossoming in my mind, the truth

impossible to find

But who is this enemy I prowl for?

This person locking me in these elderwood doors

A witch, a monster is what I suppose

Maybe a  talking mirror will expose my woes

As I prowl for the enemy, with the talking mirror in hand

I hear a voice, quiet and underhand

"Dear lady, please, let me see your face,  I have the power to trace your memories, to look for this enemy.

I must enter your mind, and the truth I have the capability of seeing."

Slowly, I listen, and bring the mirror up

It's shocked! And grasping for air!

And says, " OH MY, THE ENEMY IS THERE!!"

I turn around, to stare it face to face

But I am disappointed, I do not see anyone.

"You faulty mirror! This is no childs game, I must find this intruder and slay it right away!"

"But lady, it's right there! Staring at you straight in the face!"

I put the mirror down, and see nothing but the cold castle walls

" But mirror! Who is this enemy I prowl for? Locking me in these elderwood doors. Deceiving, conniving, little snake, who has kneaded my mind with lies, every moment in my wake. Hurt is what they do, and you must find them!"

" My lady, look at me and I will show you."

In this crystal clear mirror, I find the enemy.

The perfect imposter, is staring straight at me.
