Freshly Fallen Flakes

Freshly Fallen Flakes

A Poem by Luke
"

Just some alliteration for a fun challenge

"

A flurry of fat flakes fight furiously,

Flying from the heavens above.

Frolicking and fluttering about,

On a frantic and confusing course,

For their final destination.

Finally coming to rest,

On the frost covered winter ground.

The flawless frozen fabric fits fabulously,

Forming four feet of false perfection.

Forcibly filling faulty fragments of frozen earth

With nature’s freezing frosting.

Five female friends feign interest in French

Fidgeting, fervently, awaiting the final bell.

BRRRRRRRing the bell shivers in the frosty air.

Fifty fifth graders fly

For their fur-lined jackets

Free for Friday afternoon fun.

They fit, flail, and fasten, feverishly fighting

To be the first to form footprints in the freshly fallen flakes.

Fluently fiddling fingers, futilely fighting frostbite,

The fate of the ferocious fangs of Jack Frost.

Following their fixation the file out the front door

Flabbergasted, they filter out the fissure

And find freedom in front of the same school frequented by their forefathers.

Later, foolhardy and fed up with the fracas of snowball fights,

And facefuls of freshly fallen flakes

Children find their way home to feast upon fine food fixed by their fathers.

Finally physically exhausted children find themselves fast asleep

Wrapped in finely woven sheets and faux fur comforters.

Flakes that fought furiously

Finding their way to a frost covered land

They fix faulty fragments of frozen mother earth

Forming the fantasy,

Fitting together to create the façade,

Covering failures with perfection,

Filling flaws with mother nature’s frosting.

Luke
This was really mostly just for fun, although I think with a bit of editing it could possibly make a good kid's book...any thoughts?
