Metaphoric Roses Have Metaphoric Thorns

Metaphoric Roses Have Metaphoric Thorns

A Poem by Austin
"

Nobody's perfect.

"
I saw a rose,
but what I really saw was a way out.
I saw a medium.
I saw an outlet.
And I got caught up in seeing only the petals.
And I forgot about myself.
I forgot my common sense.
I forgot that I can't stand being naive or juvenile, or making naive or juvenile mistakes.
And I had made a mistake.
Then, I was stuck by a thorn.
I looked down, and I remembered

roses have thorns

and I saw all the other thorns.
And I woke up.
