What a Peculiar Day

What a Peculiar Day

A Poem by Austin
"

A Valentine's Day I don't dispise with every ounce of my being, even though I don't have a "special someone" to share it with.

"

Today's just another day.

I did see it that way.

Chocolates and teddy-bears

were given to dear friends,

and love and sweets and pretty things

were swapped without an end.

And even though but a single gift

was given to me today,

that little piece of candy

made this my best Valentine's Day.

Just last night she told me

"Oh, let us just be friends,"

and yes, I do understand

the message that line sends.

Then from the time I woke up this morning

I was suffering of stress.

But as the day went and that time was gone

There was no longer any distress.

The reason I am okay,

well to be honest, I hardly know.

I hated this day three years,

two years, even a year ago.

But a single piece of candy,

given from a friend of mine,

has taken all my negativity

and put it all behind.
