Chapter 1 - The Best Reasonable Beginning of my Story

Chapter 1 - The Best Reasonable Beginning of my Story

A Chapter by Austin

It's difficult to begin my story.  There are a lot of important details that amount to nothing until later in the story.  I could sit here and talk for many paragraphs about my time in Boy Scouts and martial arts, but I won't.  The best reasonable beginning of my story is in my 6th grade year of school, a couple of months before summer break.

Everyone was "going out with somebody, or had just went out with someone, or was about to be going out with somebody.  Well, everybody except for me.  I thought I was a nobody because I never "went out" with any girls.  I desperately wanted to have that title of being a "boyfriend" and having a "girlfriend."

Although I didn't understand this at the time there was no purpose in thinking badly of myself.  It was all just a title, defining those who were popular from those who were not so lucky, and I've defined myself over time as a nerd, so, yeah, you get the idea.

Anyway, I was apparently cool enough to have a certain female by the name of Darla have her eye on me.  I didn't know about this but I would certainly find out soon.  This little event would put me on a path that would lead me to ups, downs, learning lessons, and, honestly, a little bit of stupidity.

So another girl named Joan, who will be mentioned later in the story, filled me in on this.  I really, no offense to her, had no interest in "going out" with Darla, but this Jordan person sparked my interest.  I acted pathetic for a while to gain her sympathy and then we exchanged phone numbers.  Later we decided to "go out" and I was ecstatic

The relationship lasted about a day.

I acted pathetic for the next couple of weeks to try to win her back, because, in 6th grade, I apparently thought that made sense.  Well, my plan worked.  Joan and I were back together for a few months and decided to end it.  That was the beginning of the most dramatic part of my life, and the part I try to keep out of most conversations.

After that, Darla began being awefully friendly with me yet again.  I actually thought she just wanted to be friends.  Well, I'm pretty sure that was not the plan.  Little did I know this whole "friendship" would lead me down a road to not another relationship.

This next "relationship" would prove to be a very important chapter of my life, and of the story that continues to develop to this day.  This relationship would lead me to become friends with the poor Wisconsin girl.  This next relationship would change my life forever.
