A Poem by Austin
"

I don't know if you'll ever read this, but if you do, I want you to know you taught me a bunch of valuable lessons, and I'm glad we knew each other.

"

When you and I were better friends

I felt that there would be no end.

I didn't feel pain and sadness went away,

but only to haunt me a later day.

When you began to slip away,

I sat there wondering every day.

I didn't know just what I could do,

because my life's foundation was built from you.

When you wouldn't reply I thought I would die,

because I couldn't figure out just, exactly, why.

I grieved and I pained and I ached in my heart.

My life's foundation was being broken apart.

But with some work and some help from my friends,

I realize now this is not how it ends.

I ache and I pain, but that's not from your wake,

and my life's foundation can withstand any quake.

Now I've moved on, as I know you have.

I look back at the fond memories I have.

But I still make more, most every day,

and my plan for success is well on its way.
