The Signal

The Signal

A Poem by Austin

I recall a happier day
when everything went so okay
And nothing went wrong at all
But then the world left me appalled.

All my friends were taken from me
All turned into enemies
I watched the world all by my own
But then one day I found I wasn't alone.

There was a one, a signal light
that lead me from the dark to bright,
and when I'd finally found my way,
she took to sea and sailed away.

Now I sit here on this shore,
thinking of what was before.
This single one; this signal light
has helped me and has saved my life.

If we didn't have to part our trails,
I'd help to signal boats to sail
on onto a better coast,
and our happiness would be the most.

But alas, this world seems to
have a different idea as to what it should do.
Now she helps another one
and I march on into the rising sun.

When again our paths cross
I'm likely to stop at no cost.
I must show her, she must see
what her signaling has done to me.
