This World

A Poem by Austin
"

Woo hoo! Almost time for school to let out! This is a summary of my biggest summer plans.

"
In this world, the only sound
is Jimmy Buffet blaring in the background.
Sunshine shines down on my skin.
My eyes are closed as I listen.

I drift into a long-lost sleep.
Been a while since I've slept so deep.
I dream of the beach, the sand on my feet.
And then I wake up to the nice summer heat.

It's been a while since I've been here;
"Son of a Sailer" in the background filling my ear.
I think about my times last year.
And suddenly I feel no fear.

I'm rested and ready for anything,
But I'd rather just hear Jimmy Buffet sing.
I'm spending my day in the laziest way,
but now I feel like a king.

Waking up to a good song is always (always?) the key to having a good day.
