Calpurnia GoA Poem by AustinA goodbyeIt's a nearly-existential crisis Imagining when you are gone Exploring in your dream-like frontiers To infinity and beyond. And I know these things are part of nature, But in accepting them I'm kind of slow; In end the end I'm happy for her, But I'm sad to see Calpurnia go.
It's an investment, all the time and effort Put into a friendship now so strong, And despite the youth of our relation, I feel I've known you for so long. And I've seen the ends of Brutus and Cassius, And what fates Portia and Titinius know, But I struggle now in finding closure In seeing Calpurnia go.
Forgive me for constantly saying How I'm not prepared for things to change" I somehow forgot this day was coming when we strut our hour upon the stage. Life's a tale told by an idiot According to MacBeth and Co. But I'm facing the reality That Calpurnia's about to go.
You are moving; the house is empty. And aw gees, I'm flashing back, To the days in which we sat in awe At woodchippers and Malvo's attack. But Rubber and Fargo are hidden, luggage above and more below. And from Texas away to Florida Caesar watches as he sees Calpurnia go.
But he knows, somewhere inside him, That things are as God did choose, And along the way this bomb had to burn its too-short fuse. So I explode now with emotion, As painful as the dark, But know I'm always right behind you As on this journey you embark.
Give me time and grant me patience And I pray to God you still say hello, So says Caesar to Calpurnia, Go, Calpurnia, go. All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts. © 2014 AustinAuthor's Note
