Dark Days:A Chapter by falling_toxic_rain
As he sat alone, the thought of his life having no point would continue to run. He closed his eyes trying to believe it was all a dream, and when he awoke he would open the door to a loving family. He wished hard but found no point, standing now by his opened window he glared across the street smelling the fresh fragrance of a rainy day. Examining his surroundings, taking deep breaths, and listening to the rain crash hard to the face of the Earth.
A hard knock at the door took his mind off what he was now pondering. Then wondering who it might be for he lived far from the small town. But it wasn't a human soul, a raven had hit the window making a hard thrashing noise, as he stepped out into the cold rainy day he found the completely still body. He slowly and gently caressed the raven, then bringing it in. Now getting a bowl and newspaper he placed the raven on the bowl. Not thinking much of it he walked back, and continued to stare. "Life isn't something you can waste. You can't sit here and wish to be found. You wouldn't have found me if I wouldn't have crashed. Would you? Now come along, lend me a hand, so I can show you the life you lead." A young man,the raven, looking in his twenties sat on the counter, beautiful long black wings spouted from behind him. A scar ran on his left arm, almost looked like an engraving. He glanced at him and then looked in the direction he was before. "What?" he gasped, looking around the room. "How did you..." "This isn't the time," said the raven. The raven closed his eyes then opened them again, their surroundings were different. The boy's face dropped as he saw his location. He saw himself a few years younger, to be exact 4 years younger. He was a fourteen, his mother screams, fear in his eyes, but he couldn't let it show. He stood strongly. After the fracas, she slammed the door and left, quickly grabbing his music, he left. He ran, and ran through the woods, he had enough, many situations ran through his mind, he had felt emotions of sadness and depression but couldn't manage to let them escape. He stopped, feeling far enough from home. He started walking, trying to admire the beauty, and relax. It escaped his mind and he wondered off... It began to get dark, and he started back on his way home. He had overcome the feeling of pain, but wasn't immune. He saw his house from afar, and walked very slowly. Something seemed different, he couldn't manage to figure out what exactly it was but he felt it. He walked slowly through the front door. Creeekkk....creeeek....creeek...
He continued looking around strange to see neither of his family members sitting or eating to him, the perfect family when he wasn't around. He walked almost making it to his room, when he saw his mother on the floor, she was forming a river of blood. He fell to the floor, "Mother?" He raced for the phone, blood was splattered, the phone was unhung and disconnected, his father lay dead as well, breathless, he stepped back. His younger sister he thought, he raced to her room, as he opened the door he saw she to was dead. Tears whelmed, his face lost all color, he couldn't manage to to breathe, he fell to the floor making a hard thrashing noise, he heard footsteps from behind. He turned to see a shadow, a strange thing, it's hands covered with blood.
He rubbed his eyes hard, a man entered, he was completely covered with shadows.
"Yooouuur next. Your the one we came for." He whispered. The boy pushed himself back, not knowing what was happening, he felt broken. The man closed in, he took small breaths, adrenaline ran through his veins. Anger was something he didn't lack, he breathed hard and his fists clenched, his face becoming hot red.
"Did...you...kill my family?""Yes, my boy." He replied. His vicious smile now visible. The boy jumped, he ran towards the man crashing hard against him, he dropped him to the floor. His skull hitting hard breaking the tile. "My boy it's not easy, you see... I'm not exactly human." the man whispered into his ear. The boy more in shock than ever, he looked down, "the...broken tile?" The man of shadows crept closer, closer...his breathing became softer, his steps heavier. His arms swept alongside, he smiled gravely, pointy white smile appeared, rotten flesh was disconnected from around his mouth. His eyes now visible, the boy starred into the black holes that seemed to never have an ending. A monstrous creature came from behind, growling, the flesh falling apart, a patchy coat filled with blood and mucky black clumps, it came to a sudden pause. "Stop! I have suffered once through this... my story, take this memory I wish not to hold away," the boy said. "My boy," the illusion vanished, "You carry their deaths upon you, but you managed to escape, you escaped the dreadful fate that had not yet been written. So listen now, I know that day remains a burden in your mind, it's a blur, you don't recall all that happened that night." The raven swallowed hard, and saw the disappointment and horror in the boy's eyes. "Can I ask, do you remember who saved you that dreadful night?" To be continued... The Boy’s eyes widened, “I… Don’t…” He felt rage and anger building within him, “I… don’t know anything…from that night, I don’t remember after what you showed me… I don’t…reme...mber.” “Calm, calm boy,” the Raven hadn’t moved much, still sat in the same position, still, calm and with answers the boy looked for. “Do you know what they were after,” he asked. “He…was…after…m…e…” he paused,
collapsing to the floor, “they were…after me….”
He breathed hard, clenching his fists, “they were after me!... it…was
my…fault, it was all my fault…” It seemed as if eternity had hit, he stayed quietly,
and completely still kneeling on the floor, nervous, angry, and afraid,
thinking he was in fault, he remained. The Raven stretched his wings, stood up, and examined him. “Is this “heart”? Is this what you humans feel? I’m sorry but I must ask.” The Boy looked pale white, “…what?” The Raven looked elsewhere, “never mind that now, I’m here to ask you to be part of the Nocturnal Sky,” he turned. “The nocturnal sky,” he had an odd expression across his face. “The Nocturnal Sky, it’s not what you think, but you have been called upon, will you attend?” He leaned against the kitchen counter again, as before. “The nocturnal sky,” he repeated
again, “I... must be dreaming…everything…must be a dream.” Wake up he thought,
wake up. “Child, please stop making yourself a fool, denial certainly won’t get you anywhere. We must leave now though, it is getting late and I must get you to the place.” He quickly stood. “I…never agreed.” The boy said quickly. “You never disagreed either.” The Raven quickly replied. to be continued... © 2011 falling_toxic_rain |
