What Is A Child

What Is A Child

A Poem by Ashley

What is a child -
Ah, so many things
A small silent hope
A prayer sent on wings
A rosebud of love
A smile, bright as the morn
God blesses each home
When a baby is born.

A sunbeam of light -
A small child can be
Unselfishness, love and honesty
Sometimes a heartache
Sometimes a tear
Always forgiveness -
and so willing to share.

This world full of hatred
Torn this way and that
No time for our brother
be he white or black
How better we would be
more gentle and mild
If each grown up person
were more like a child!

My great grandmother has written this, and I have put it on here because reading her poems made me feel happy, and I'd often cry, so I'm showing you some of my joy.

Awe, this is adorable! It made me feel happy too. My grandma wrote a poem once it always made me feel warm to read it... must be a grandparent thing.

Anyways, thanks for sharing. Very cute!
