Broken

Broken

A Poem by Tabetha Green
"

Sometimes you just can't put back all the pieces..

"

A broken smile

A broken heart

was all she had

From the very start

Broken once

and broken for all

in love again

she'd never fall

All she sought

was to break away

into a world

where she'd get to play

An empty heart

with burning fire

she lost herself

in stone cold desire

Shimmering lights

wisps of smoke

one last scotch

and  a whiff of coke

The world was a blur

when she caught his eye

strong and uncaring

he walked right by

She smiled at the ring

on the third of his right

here was a game

with a worthy fight

She bit her lip

as she looked his way

he saw her stare

and tried to look away

And try he did

but in much vain

none could pass this vixen

without looking again

She walked over

with her slender grace

A sway in her hips

A smile on her face

A drink in her hand

a dance in her eyes

every little bruise

so cleverly disguised

He followed her home

so lost in the spell

of this beautiful maiden

from the depths of hell

The lights went off

but the darkness only came

when the first rays of light

hit his face in shame

In pieces, he woke

and walked away

Losing everything

he had yesterday

In pieces she awoke

to an empty bed

tears in her eyes

and a heart full of dread

Broken was all

she ever was

and broken is

what broken does
