Under the Disco BallA Poem by The Invisible GirlThe music is blaring. The lights are blinding. The party has just begun. People are dancing They were singing like they all done before I never wanted to go, but I did. I moved into the middle of the crowd. I'm sucked into the dancing bodies. I smelled sweat and heavy perfumes. I'm in the middle of the dance floor with the colorful disco ball above my head. All my friends around me dancing and having a good time while I just stood there awkwardly. This isn't where I should be I should be home reading and study for my next final. But soon, I see an another familiar face in the crowd I saw him walk toward us my friends got all giggly while I didn't say a word. It was my crush from sixth grade. While he walked to us, his gorgeous eyes never left mine When he got to us he smiled at me and told me his name I smiled, but didn't offer mine he already knew it So, we danced until our feet got sore We laughed until we couldn't no more We talked until knew each other much more At that moment we knew we had a good time together at the party, And that we couldn't be kept apart no more You can call it destiny or fate, but I always thanked the disco ball at every party. For helping me break my comfort shell.
