Between Latitudes

Between Latitudes

A Poem by Consuela Burke

Pre-Columbian ships,
finding themselves adrift
between latitudes,
saw, mirrored in placid,
vast, and deadly glass,
their slavers' gift.
And disembarked, up. Away from form
meant for depth and speed and storm.
