Emerald Sea

Emerald Sea

A Poem by Constance-Outspoken
"

For the Poetry and Lyrical Challenge Group. Title and theme were given: Emerald Sea, swaying tree. I thought the form would enhance the words a little.

"
Cyan
sky    and
             canary
sun         were
washed               away,
usurped           by
slate                  and
gunpowder
                           clouds,
impregnated
and                                      swollen
with                       phthalo
sheets             of
tepid             rain,
as a                     grove
of                             celadon
trees                     swayed
en-masse,             sailing
westward                       as
one               emerald
sea--                          trailing
cotton              candy
blossoms                   across
                             lapis

lazuli
                           lagoons,

inundating
terra
                                  cotta

hillsides

             with
         the

           future's
          fertile
          forests

The format does enhance the words. Each word is very punctuated. The use of color helps too.

I love the gunpowder clouds... that is a great description... as for the poem I find this to be a wonderful lesson in working together despite differences just as the way you describe the way many different parts of mother nature do.

puts me in mind of the line from Paul Simon song, "I'm nothing but a land-locked sailor, searching for the Emerald Sea." You so easily push the limits of invention...
