On the Absence of Butterflies and Flames

On the Absence of Butterflies and Flames

A Chapter by Constance-Outspoken
"

Inspired by a conversation with the conversant who most inspires me.

"
Where before flutterings took wing
convincing pattering heart to swoon,
lips to tremble, hands to quake,
residence is taken by something
re-countable as perfect peace.

When once hot fingers of desire
scorched their way through every cell;
caused dark, breathless anticipation;
the soul finds footing, shall aspire
to completion, communion in your form.

How deliciously the hours are passed
relishing completion finally found,
satisfied unequivocally, not smothered
by vapid inundation that shan't last.
I miss not those flittings nor flickerings.

Why do we all seek butterflies and flames
when each is doomed to die so very young?

This is quite something...so pressured and vigorous!

For me, death is distraction from beauty. Even if a butterfly dies young, my memory of it fluttering around my garden, trying to get to my broccoli, will live longer than some of what we humans assume to be the most enduring things.

It was, like poetry, a valued expereince than reminds me of my slightness.

Enjoy this a lot.

It's a deep and meaningful poem. I find this a rather sad but realistic piece. The tone's indifference and bitterness further add flavor to general feel. It can be a really reflective writing.

Keep Writing. ^___^

This is a beautiful metaphor and one I have not encountered before. I would never have thought of using a butterfly, it works perfectly and especially the ending. Great piece, I know these words are going to stay with me today, thanks!

I always feel excited when I see butterflies in my garden. They are such magical creatures along with dragonflies and frogs *smile*. I see a deeper message in your words and am happy to have had a change to read it and consider what was expressed.

What a stunning piece! It's structure is exquisite, allowing the words to flow so smoothly.

Such an incredible opening line, it reads so very well. A fascinating work of art, that finishes on quite a profound question, something i love in writing as it will always leave the reader thinking about the work. Great writing!!

Wonderful writing... So much this reader could say, as he has become a muse of this canvas of beauty. I love that first stanza.

Constance... Very Nice!

my candle burns at both ends . . . we are all drawn to the flame, the light it promises . . . the title drew me in, and Solst's review, I'm glad I followed my instincts, this was beautiful
