Remnants of You

Remnants of You

A Chapter by Constance-Outspoken

Solace comes from knowing you breathe

your voice on the line brings me comfort and rest

memories of that rhythm that is our passion

keep me warm as the calm cold night

tries to seep its way in deeper than my flesh

Photographs of your smile are constant companions

reminders of the way it felt the first time

the first time I was the creator of that smile

the first time I felt it travel from my eyes that saw it

to my heart that knew the soul behind it

all the way to the tingling in my toes

Remnants of you comfort and remind

allay feelings of total bereavement

and yet I feel the loss each moment

the searing of your touch

the meeting of blue eyes

the reluctant realization

that I could never kiss you deeply

enough to drink in the very soul of you

and give you all of mine

Knowledge that you feel solace in my breath

and gain restfulness with my voice

remember the rhythm of our passion

and let the warmth fill you inside

and knowing that I can create that smile again

even from this distance

keeps my glimpse of hope alive
