Pursuing the Rare Orchid

Pursuing the Rare Orchid

A Chapter by Constance-Outspoken

Your essence overpowers me, humbles me
Makes me feel light headed and joyous
Like the first Saturday in Spring

I came to the garden expecting to find a daisy
And found a rare orchid in full bloom
Something worth keeping

If I touch you will you shrink away from it?
Can one really have and hold something
So dear and precious?

I doubt that I can even make you know
My name, my face, my heart, my soul
Can a blossom hear a sound?

In case you may hear, I will sing
I will warble out the entirety
Of my longing admiration

In case you may read it, I will write
I will write you a poem
In the key of love

In case you may see it, I will paint you
I will paint your portrait on canvas
All the beauty that I see

If you see, and read, and hear and care not
If you crumple my hopes and dreams
I will start over again

I came to the garden expecting to find a daisy
Instead I found a rare orchid in full bloom
Something worth hoping for

Your essence overpowers me, humbles me
Makes me wonder at my own free will
As though I have no choice but to
Take a chance
