Shared Secret (Poem for Judi)

Shared Secret (Poem for Judi)

A Poem by Constance-Outspoken
"

A tribute to the dearest friend I never met.

"

In the sorrow of a long slow rainy day I found a secret.
I keep it in my pocket, like a watch on a fob, fastened to my soul.
The time on its face forever reads the same: Time to change, time to grow, time to love.
I hide it from the glow of the sun and from the glare of the moon, stashed away from the light.
I show it only when it serves to, when the time is right.

Walking down a bittersweet hall of memories I look forward, not daring to look at these walls.
To left, to right, behind my back are the shadows that once loomed, but now sit penitent.
They wait for my approval before letting themselves be shown, and I am a staunch parent.
Ahead the thing that looms is the essence of the dawn. I cannot stop it, try as I may.
I try because I fear.

I fear that the shadows may awaken when I least expect, and cast their spell again.
Yet, I have that elixir, buried deep within the corners of the pocket in my soul.
I’ll show it to you. I’ll share it. I would give it all to you, to still the sadness and reopen your heart.

For Judi, my friend.
(You already posses this secret, you know.)

this is a wonderful poem to write for a friend. This poem put a smile on my face and that is a hard task to do some days. There is so much beauty here in this piece. I love the few lines of this poem very much. This is a great poem for lifting the spirits.

Encouragement is the best thing we can give those we care about, the rest is up to them to believe, this was kinda of haunting in a way but really mesmerizing... your words run deep and spiritual.

Seems to me, there are a couple of secrets here...a secret that has the potential to unleash happiness and joy...but also a secret of the past...a burden that begs to be lifted. Sometimes we have to look to our past, be able to understand our past, before we can move forward. But yet...there exists a fear of the future in this piece as well...a future that is impossible to predict and impossible to stop. I have read this over and over...I love it!
