She's Not Even Beautiful ( A Song. Tune is just in my head)

She's Not Even Beautiful ( A Song. Tune is just in my head)

A Poem by Constance

I thought I wanted to know who she was...

I thought it would help me to understand...

But I understand less now, it's true... oh love...

She's not even beautiful.

How did she take your heart away from me

Just when I thought it was mine, forever on

And what did she do that made you sway so

Or were you already gone?

Her eyes aren't clear and blue like mine

Her skin is not young and clean and fair

Her hair is chopped like a boy's and she

Is some 8 years older than me

She isn't that smart, she isn't that cool

She isn't any better than me, is she? Is SHE!

She doesn't seem so, but she must be.

She's not even beautiful..

But she has you.

She holds you in her average arms...

You kiss her mediocre face

She must not be without her charms...

But how is it she took my place?

I know she can't love you more than I

She's not even beautiful

That's what hurts the most

She's not even beautiful,

And yet I lost

I lost the one who made me feel

Life was to be lived with all I had

I lost my inspiration, my very soul

And no matter who I'm with, I'm sad

There is only one of you in this world

And I just knew I was meant to be yours

But she took your hand and led you away

And you both seem so happy today

Though she's not even beautiful

I bet she FEELS so beautiful

I know I always did, with you

I want to feel beautiful too

When will I be beautiful again?

Wow, Constance, this is really good...powerful, sad, raw, edgy. Your ending is so very strong and poignant...beauty, in many respects is in the eye of the beholder; yet, as you so sagely point out, beauty is also felt/experienced by the appreciated beholdee (if you'll allow me that word). I'm sorry for you pain and I wish you peace.

I remember feeling so worthless, so broken, so empty after 12 years of trying. I wasn't enough. It took me quite some time to regain any sense of self worth. I know the agony of feeling so alone. And yet you are not.
Please read Irreconcilable Differences if you get a chance.

This piece of yours is very powerful indeed!

WOW...this was cool! I like the ending a lot. How he makes her feel beautiful. My favorite lines below:

Her eyes aren't clear and blue like mine
Her skin is not young and clean and fair
Her hair is chopped like a boy's and she
Is some 8 years older than me
