The Poet Forgot the Names (Villanelle)

The Poet Forgot the Names (Villanelle)

A Poem by Constance
"

His senses enveloped, he senselessly sings

"

The poet forgot the names for most things

And sought instead the meaning of it all

His senses enveloped, he senselessly sings

Seeking an end to foul memories' stings

When in beauty, he heard something call

The poet forgot the names for most things

Having lost all titles, without effort he brings

Truer description to feelings that silently fall

His senses enveloped, he senselessly sings

Etching out phrases more vivid than drawings

Sitting prone on the copice of a high seawall

The poet forgot the names for most things

Behind the names, were well hidden meanings

Forgotten and now he's remembered them all

His senses enveloped, he senselessly sings

Man creates names, to these titles he clings

Yet there's no truth, unless God we recall

The poet forgot the names for most things

His senses enveloped, he senselessly sings

Author's Note

Constance
Replace the word God with anything you wish, depending on your faith. Funny thing is, the last stanza's first letters spell out the word MYTH, which I just now noticed, myself, after several reads. Not intentional , but works nicely. :)

My favorite poem of yours so far!
This is absolutely stunning, deep and mesmerizing, as well as meaningful. This should go down alongside the classics with T.S Elliot and Wordsworth, and I really do mean that.
An absolutely fantastic poem. You've really grown and blossomed as a writer

This line sent shivers down my spine!

I was impressed to find you had figured out how to embed the spoken work in your piece.

That's the problem nowadays... people replace God with anything they wish... anything they can imagine. Okay, okay, let me stay on task here...
It took me a moment to notice the structure of this piece. I'll guess it took a bit of work to bring it together. Nicely done though, very nice indeed!

Another beautiful poem. Really, a poet almost forgets all the things he or she encountered in everyday life. Some sediments remain filtered, and that comes to get tamed in the words; we find poems. I like the word arrangement and the senses behind the words.

Thank you for sharing.

Quite beautiful.
Constance, I must confess, I have read more of you work than I have commented on simply because at times words elude me because of the depth of your pieces.
Perhaps as time goes by and I begin to know you better, the language will come.

Very nice job c-

on the technical side it is spot on. Now on the subjective side, I don't think it needs any changes either, it is really sound, strong and very much the enjoyable read.

Wow. I read this and kept thinking you were talking about me. I know that sounds self-serving, but I am like this (extremely like this). I love the write. Well done. Going in favorites. :)
