Finding More Than A Star

Finding More Than A Star

A Chapter by Constance
"

Inspired by a friend who was inspired by a friend who was inspired by another poet... wow, the things that happen at the cafe. :)

"

This poem was inspired by AK's Dreaming of My Star, which was in turn inspired by Solst's Reaching For a Star, which was originally inspired by Serendipity's Reaching for the Stars- quite a chain of inspiration here.

For centuries it seemed, I searched the heavens

Unsure that what I sought could even be

Yet resolute that I could seek an eternity

If it was necessary to find the light

Who would guide my days

Sure he must be there

Just beyond reach

Waiting

Hoping

Praying

Seeking

Just as I

Did I need a guide to live and breathe?

No, but was I really living? Or only

Playing at it for a time?

How can one live, really live

With only hope and dreams

Only prayers and wishes

And simple food and drink?

I did not live in this

Yearnful

Mournful

Needful

Unfulfilled

Subsistence

I found him in the rubble, charry from entry

With his smile and wit somehow intact

In spite of minor damages

He lit my soul with a gaze

And I became the moon

Waxen and full, beaming

For he was not merely a meekly shining star

I had dreamt within my longings

But the ever-rising sun, so bright

It burned the cataracts from my eyes

I hadn't known I'd owned

Sometimes the blind

Cannot see that they are blinded

When they are blinded to the truth

Beyond the measure of mere sight

Having found more than I bargained for, I seek now

Only every moment I could steal within his aura

Resolute to seek an eternity, of course

Beside him within the heavens of his gaze

I thank God every moment we live

We two halves who now are whole

Sun and moon, not merely stars

And I pray we light the path

Others may follow

Who are, like we were

Waiting

Hoping

Praying
Seeking

Most yearnfully

Mournfully

Needfully unfulfilled

I pray they will

One day go beyond

Subsistence

And find life

Together

To light the world

And it seems you have brought the eternal search full-circle young lady. Very nicely done indeed!
Of all the theories of "soulmates" and "perfect partners" I'm unsure... but I am convinced we each have a someone out there. It's our mission in life to find them.
Sometimes we get impatient though, and that complicates matters considerably. But that's another poem, isn't it? : >)

This is so lovely. Congratulations!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this. It's a torrent of feeling, thought and words. It tells a wonderful story. I'm off to see if this is in your spoken collection now.

I love the chain of inspiration that brought you to this point and the need to write this poem. It is wonderful.

My favorite part:

He lit my soul with a gaze

And I became the moon

Waxen and full, beaming

I live the way you set this up the stanzas the line breaks how you used structure but mostly the words, how wonderful it all is... great job here~
