Numb (Brutal Honesty)

Numb (Brutal Honesty)

A Chapter by Constance

Chill wind numbs pain and brings forgetfullness

Yet lies can never be forgotten, once told

They fester, hideous boils that breed a disease

Like no other

Chemotherapy for the soul

This brutal honesty

I give you

Pain, the catalyst of change and rebirth

I have never known change

Sans agony or another's apathy

I'll wait here

Until the pain comes, until the bell tolls

Until the coolness of the wind makes

My toes shiver in my shoes

And truth is all

I have left

Or right

Hi honey! I like this poem. I agree with you completely. Truth is necessary to every person. Yet, sometimes I wonder if "truth" is in the eyes of the beholder, so to speak. What one person sees as truth is based on his/her past experiences and how he/she catagorizes mentally. Of course, you and I have talked about this before. :o) I sometimes question whether the "truth" is ever really seen for what it actually is. What you see as a the "truth" may not be exactly the same as what someone else sees as the "truth."

However, I am digressing way beyond the emotional level here. I know that you are undoubtedly referring to the lies that people tell one another in the course of intimate relationships. You will just have to put up with the aggrivation of having me and my wide-eyed opinions. LOL!

I write about my past, my own real experiences. Even my poetry is inspired by my life. I was, I suppose, born writing, making up stories and rhymes from about when I started to speak, but had to wait .. more..
