Una Fotographia (A Poem in Spanish, with translation, of course)

A Chapter by Constance
"

Sometimes things write themselves in my head in my second language. Yes, I use it enough that I think in both languages. Lately, I've actually been writing them down.

"

This is my second ever attempt at poetry in Spanish, with English translation. Anyone who knows Spanish is welcome to correct any grammar errors they see. I'm sure there are still a couple I've missed. This stuff is written in my mind, sort of ina vocal way, to begin with. My speech and internal speech is much more fluent than my written expression, but I'm learning more and more every day. :)

Belleza espiritual,
Y memorias
Mas dulces a cada dibujo

A photograph... What does it mean
If you don't look at it with a memory in mind?
It doesn't matter if it's a beautiful memory
Or one that you wish to forget
Without a memory, it is just a picture.

Beauty what importance does it have
If it is not a beauty that reaches to the inside?
It doesn't matter if the outside is most lovely
Or if one eye finds it ugly
Without heart
It is nothing important

Life, what is it
If it is not full of love, and love's lessons?
It doesn't matter if it is the love you thought you were waiting for
Or if it comes in an unexpected way
Without love,
Life is nothing.

Struggle all your life
And you gain nothing if you do not fight for
Love and it's lessons
Beauty of the soul
And memories more sweet than any picture

I agree with Tony for Spanish is one of the languages of love! I can read and understand Spanish, but I cannot write or speak it fluently... I enjoyed both versions and I like seeing poetry in languages other than English on this site, because there is a lot of good poetry written outside the English speaking world. Thank you for having the courage to write in a language that is not ... English.
Hmm, this is a little strange coming from a non native speaker of English, primarily writing in ... English.
It was nice meeting with your work!

I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think in stanza 1, line 2 , it should be "miras" not "mires". I think it would only change to mires if you were speaking to command. I like how you took this beautiful poem and wrote it in two beautiful languages.

This is a nice poem in both languages, though the Spanish seems smoother.
Our memories, our beauties, and our loves are often elusive, always important.
Thats what I got from this.
Very nice!

I write about my past, my own real experiences. Even my poetry is inspired by my life. I was, I suppose, born writing, making up stories and rhymes from about when I started to speak, but had to wait .. more..
