Breaking into pieces

Breaking into pieces

A Poem by Connor O'Donnel
"

Just a poem about a feeling I feel.

"

Something's still missing
and its a huge part of me
which becomes bigger
every f*****g day

And even though the smoke curls up
in front of my face
hiding what I want to hide
I'm still alive

Exhaling the smoke
as I chuckle
my eyes watching the grey smoke
flying softly away as it fades
into the darkness

I tip my finger softly against my cigarette
ash dropping down
falling into pieces
as I did once

Remembering when my heart
was shattered into thousands of pieces
Now they hook weakly together
and I smile
denying it sweetly

The blaze burning down the cigarette
as I take a long drag
it just fades
like my life will
I look up into the dark sky
hundreds of sparkling stars above me
as the smoke escapes my lips slowly
mixing with the clouds of cold air

Feeling the heat coming closer
to my fingers as I take another puff
I glance at it as the smoke
curls up in my throat

Realizing that I am nothing else
than this cigarette
breaking into pieces.
