My RoutineA Poem by Con CampbellI like doing things the same way. Change doesn’t scare me, but I’m aware of its power to make us forget ourselves. I feel like we all gravitate towards a routine, I believe they define us.My Routine I like doing things
the same way. Change doesn’t scare me, but I’m aware of its power to make us
forget ourselves. Some people find comfort in hobbies and structure, others in
drinking and promiscuity. I feel like we all gravitate towards a routine, I
believe they define us. It can show the world the things we cherish most, and
just as much, can reveal the thing we’re scared of most. -------------------------------------------------- I find comfort in the
routine, I don't feel green,
nothing kept unseen. Outside, you may
think me fifteen, But then, what? I'm
happy. I find comfort in the
routine, My life is not a
smokescreen. You may think me
porcine, But I don't care. I'm
happy. I find comfort in the
routine, Why is it so wrong to
be different? I feel I'm surrounded
by philistine, Salt in a sea of
tourmaline. I mean, I prefer the
routine, I guess I can do
something different. It's really not an
unforeseen, Would you be happier
with me indifferent? Maybe I'm made of
plasticine, Something pliable and
soft. Things change, a slot
machine, Invading a peaceful
croft. I do find comfort in
the routine, Please don't take it
away from me. I'm the fabric to the
sewing machine, The green, blue, red
to the rupee. I miss my routine, I don't like what
I've become. I'm pristine, way too
clean and I hate feeling
numb. Life gives us so
little, Why not hold on to
what’s ours? All we need is
something to whittle, A canvas to paint for
hours. © 2018 Con CampbellReviews
