Connect 4 has also been known as several different names such as four in a row, four up, plot four, captain's mistress, find four, and drop four. Many games become classic for a reason. Connect 4 in a row board game has been entertaining people since the 1970s. It is pretty basic, two players to win must place 4 checkers in a row diagonally, horizontally, or vertically to make 4 in a row. The pieces fall straight down. Connect 4 is a solved game. The first player to get a 4 in a row line wins. Connect 4 can keep you entertained for hours on a rainy afternoon with friends and family. There is a long history behind connect 4, it is a classic and has been transformed so you can now play the classic 4 in a row in 3D style. So, let’s take a look at the history of connect 4 in a row and the latest and best connect 4 games. 

History of connect 4 

In the earliest 20th century Robbie bell’s “four balls” game appeared. The early and legend explorer Captain Cook used to spend a lot of his time inside his cabin playing tis against his fellow travellers botanist Daniel Solander and naturalist Joseph Banks. While on their voyages the game became known as Captains Mistress. However, it is not clear when the first stacking connect 4 appeared.  

The author Robbie Bell he wrote a book which then featured the game picture which was called 4 balls. It was an old mahogany wooden game and the pieces used were beech balls that could be dropped through wooden chutes. It is not certain the date of the game however it is estimated to be 1901-1910 Edwardian c.  

Another connect 4 was invented in 1968 by Funtastic only in a 3 D version and it was called score 4. It consisted of a 4x4 grid of vertical poles sticking up from the board. it was made from quality wood. 

A travel Captain’s Mistress was designed by Nauticalia which sold until 2010. In February-1974, Milton Bradley (Hasbro) sold the most successful and the best version called Connect 4.  
 
Wood Captain’s Mistress Connect 4 

This is the oldest known connect 4 board game dating back to the earliest 20th century by captain the explorer. It will sit neatly on a table top that is stacked up and there are billions of combinations to get to 4 in a row. There are 64 counters included in the box 32 red and 32 yellow. It is flat packed, easy to assemble, and easy to play, everyone will enjoy playing this.  

Tic Stac Toe  

Play tic-tac-toe but in a 3-d version called Tic Stac Toe. It is played by two players and is an award-winning board game. It includes a game board and 66 durable plastic stackable pieces. Using the x and o pieces a player must get the x or O’s in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The game includes an easier play pattern for younger kids and blocker pieces. It is the winner of the child-magazine game of the year and the winner of the teacher's choice award.  

4 in a row shoot out game  

4 in a row shoot out is the perfect game for all families to play. If you are looking for a challenge then this is defiantly for you. Each player launches the coloured balls at the grid in turns and the first player to reach connect 4whether it is diagonally, horizontally, or vertically will win. Included inside the box is two sets of balls, a grid, a launcher, and a backplate. It is perfect for every family to enjoy and have plenty of fun while playing. It is suitable for children from 3 years of age.  

Classic Connect 4  

The classic connect 4 is an original and new improved connect 4 board game. It features 21 red discs and 21 gold discs, a grid, 2 feet, and a label sheet. The game is designed by Hasbro gaming company. It can be played in 3 different ways. Connect 4 classic you must reach 4 in a row in either diagonal, vertical, or horizontal line, the first person to reach a row of 4 counters wins. The third was of playing is called connect 4-frenzy this mean it is a free for all where you put the discs through the slot holes on the grid board by getting ready, steady, and drop. The third gaming option is in connect 4 frenzy, this is where both players drop their counters at the same time but must only use one hand. A player can then choose to eject a disc from the bottom through the pop out feature or drop a disc into the grid. This is a connect 4 that has new strategies and challenges that everyone will love to play at home.

In my opinion, the new 4tec Game is a more superior version of connect 4 and is going to be huge in the board game industry in the next few years.
