was it a mistake

was it a mistake

A Poem by thespaceinmybed

or just a dirty consequence
I had coming
I sew my secrets into the balls
of my feet
so I can pretend
I'm constantly walking away from them
they say
everything fades with time
but I smell you
in my own shadow
lurking
reminding me of all the things
I can never be
as the years take my smiles
I wonder
if dead hopes
were bred in me
or if they sensed the hollowness
in my chest
and found a friend

Very deep piece.. everything fades with time
"but I smell you
in my own shadow
lurking
reminding me of all the things
I can never be
as the years take my smiles"

Just guessing here but I feel it is self you are speaking with in this poem.'
"I sew my secrets into the balls
