Invisible Wealth

Invisible Wealth

A Poem by Nirvana

I watch the people window shop
--mindless drones.
They are nothing but dollar signs
strolling down the street
in their overpriced clothes.
Flashing their too perfect smiles
That are a shade too white
To be trusted.

Little do they know,
I am the richest one of them all!
For I have
the two most precious things
money can't buy...

I love this poem! I've thought these things a million times, but a mark of brilliance is capturing these recurring thoughts in a well-crafted poem, as you have done here! This might've been said in dozens of other ways, but you've said it best & with much clarity. I love open-ended messages, becuz the reader can fill in the blanks. We can each have our 2 faves. Great work!

I been saying money can't buy a lot of things for years. There are so many things it cant create. I tell people a walk is priceless. I mean gosh just seeing before your own eyes is a true gift being able to hear things. And scents how wonderful and priceless. Your poem will make others gain that's for sure" awesome" :)

Some pieces I read, I dont want points for them. That's my way of paying homage to perfection.

My pleasure entirely :)
My "two things" to love: (1) myself, free of media prescribed facades and (2) those who have emerged from their corporate driven profit based cocoon to be the beautiful butterfly adorned with only their self awareness. And these 2 loves open the doors to so many more opportunities for a REAL life!
Bravo on a well written revelation of the plasticization of humanity.
