A Delayed ReactionA Poem by Nirvana
Through veins and arteries,
the Brain ran down to the Heart as fast as she could. "I'm ready to love!" she yelled. "I'm ready and willing." With a slow, exasperated beat the Heart began to reply: "Foolish mind. You have waited too long. I am tired, broken, and unable to love." The Brain was stunned at what she heard. "Is there nothing I can do?" she softly cried. "You should have listened to the Gut," said the Heart bitterly, "the Gut is never wrong." The battered Heart turned and returned to its chambers. And with that, the Brain was left alone, to weep at love lost. © 2016 NirvanaFeatured Review
