Solitude’s tune

Solitude’s tune

A Poem by Ivan Mauricio Urrego

Solitude’s tune

I am alone when a single star shines
as life away in loneliness declines,
one minute past, the pendulum swings
when it is one of this world’s few solemn things.

To hear the rant and chants of unspoken words,
that life's silence hoards
to sit down and think of life’s events,
or to contemplate which path to take
as the hours, days and months the rags of time retains
from the mind some echoing thought still strains.

Solitude’s tune, for some not their favorite song
For others, the healing stint of old wrongs
or the reopening of greater wounds.
To hear Solitudes’ tunes,

is the hollow roaring from the still
It is more than verses unrevealed,
Insensible to human suffering
it is time’s endless labyrinth.
