ShadowA Poem by JakeThis is one of my personal favourites so far.
Shadow
It’s safe in here, Short, sharp, gusts of breath, I can feel the cold nipping on my ear, I can feel the icy touch of death. I play with the outside light, Letting it slowly sneak up on me, Letting it make me large and bright, Illuminated for the whole world to see. And then I hide again, Creeping back into the dark, Safe, once again, from them, Safe from life’s little play park. Always happy in this place, I can watch through my eyes, Look at the world’s face, Watch them find honesty in lies. But now I’m not alone, I can hear the quiet ‘Hello’, There’s an intruder somewhere here, Deep within your shadow. © 2011 JakeReviews
