MarissaA Poem by Collette Clark
Beautiful is her middle name
A prize to any but owned by none It saddens me that no one sees The awful truth hidden inside Scars decorate her face, her arms Burns on her hands, bruises on her back Yet she carries on without a care in the world Her smile could outshine the sun "My dance partner," she says, "Is God's gift to me. Our song is played By the lonely musicians of the world. The best thing about this, I'll admit, Is the fact that they don't know me." Her greatest fear she confided in me The thoughts that often plague her Consist of nothing; no evidence That she had ever walked this Earth Silly girl, can't you see? What you'll leave is worth more than lifeless memories "My dance partner," she says, "Is God's gift to me. Our song is played By the lonely musicians of the world. The best thing about this, I'll admit, Is the fact that they don't know me." Raindrops pound the empty street Thunder drums shake the sky And she stares off with loneliness bleeding from her eyes "My dance partner," she says, "Is God's gift to me. Our song is played By the lonely musicians of the world. The best thing about this, I'll admit, Is the fact that they won't forget me." © 2011 Collette ClarkReviews
