The One Ghost

The One Ghost

My mind aches
There is fear in the making
As I lie awake
There are dreams that are breaking
Ghosts.
They come in the night, that dead night
Coming to send a darkened light
But it is for one ghost I seek
Not these ghosts that speak
The ghost I search for is silent, dead silent
The ghosts that haunt me are loud- violent
This ghost, it hides
Hides in my mind's dark corners
And bides
Bides its time until I am ready
And so until that time I dream
Dream and search my mind's desert
Where nothing is ever what it seems
It hides in my dreams
But in night's dark shadows of light
The ghosts that creep clutch my conscious tight
They do not give sleep this night
The battle is this- just one nights sleep
The bravery I show, the cool I keep
Until my mind can fall asleep
And I can search these dreams, forever free
Until I find the one ghost that holds the key
To me.
