Scattered Thoughts

Scattered Thoughts

A Poem by Nicole

I find it almost pathetic that the majority of my thoughts revolve around love and my seemingly insane idea of what it should be.

You see, I've never been much of a materialistic,

sparkling diamonds and pricey gifts never caught my eye, they never took my breathe away or made my body shiver with excitement.

I enjoy the intangible,

the things that mean the most to me are those that can not be held in the palm of your hand.

I have always been a firm believer that love is measured by something far more deep than the amount of treasures a man can give to me.

I would rather be held in your arms than draped in divine fabrics.

Wrap yourself around me underneath the moonlight and ask me about my day.

I'll only talk about myself briefly for I want to listen,

I want to know every minuscule detail of the person I'm in love with.

I will not ask you for anything other than yourself, and your honesty.

I will never leave you.

I will never judge you.

I will always love you.

Love is not simply measured, it is continuously built atop a strong foundation in hopes that it will never shatter under pressure.
