Young Child

Young Child

A Poem by Cody Michael

I look into your eyes,
seeing only sadness,
pain,
remorse.
I feel your sadness young child,
I know your pain,
I hold your remorse within my palms.
Young child,
I look into your eyes,
I see into your mind,
I see the hurt you've been caused,
I see the strife you conceal.
Young child,
Take my hand,
Let me lead you from this place,
Let me lead you from hell.
Let me take you far away,
Young child
Let me lead you,
To a place where you will feel no sadness,
No pain,
No remorse.
A place where you need not be afraid,
A place where no harm will come to you,
Young child,
You are safe,
The scars will fade here,
The memories will no longer bind you.
Young child,
let us walk hand in hand into the light,
To a place free of the pain this cruel world brought you.
***In memory of all the children lost to the cruel world who never got to see how beautiful life was because they passed before they could***

Your written words are absolutely alive! :)

Too many children have been lost already. This is one of the most beautifully poignant whispers of sanctuary I've ever read. All of us have felt this prayer. Out of what I've reviewed of your work so far, this is the best: it tells us we're not alone, if nothing else. That alone is a huge testament of love

This was beautifully written. It was very sad and hopeful all at once. It seemed like professional poem.
