My Secret Pain

My Secret Pain

A Poem by Cody Michael

The hidden truth,
that lies behind the poker face of a young boy,
the formation of two realities,
wishing only to live in one.
His face expressionless,
his eyes,
filled with the truth,
the truth that his lips fear to speak,
that his eyes gush with tears,
to burn away.
Engraved in his memory,
seen in his dreams,
his fears persist him.
Like a hole in a tree,
empty,
alone.
He wants to choose between realities,
both exsist,
each one is like...walking,
walking on hot embers,
but in his mind its like holding a ball of fire,
pulsing,
slowly burning/eatting away at his hands,
but to let go,
would mean to catch his world on fire,
a world so imperfect,
that he had to make his own to survive,
his mind rings "i promised to be strong,
i promised not to cry."
the flame consues more of his hands,
his face expressionless,
expressionless...
expressionless
until the flame consumes.
at long last a single tear drop fall's,
his reality shatters,
hes gone.
