The Evolution f God

There once was a god

Who was the sun

Causing all things to grow.

Statues were built

To earn his grace, and

Keeping rivers to flow.

 

There once was a god

Who controlled the sun

Keeping people at bay.

Sacrifices were made

To earn his love and

Keep the light of day.

 

There once was a god

Who came from the sun

To protect his people from harm.

Armies were built

Which he led

To protect their precious farms.

 

There once was a god

Who understood the sun

And taught his people to pray.

They lifted him up

To exalted state

And prayed to him every day.

 

There once was a god

Who glowed like the sun

Spreading a message of love.

Dogmas were spun

Like heaven and hell

So we might join him above.

 

But there is a God

Who is the sun

And all that we can see.

He sends us love

And truth and grace

And lives in you and me.
