A Better Place

A Better Place

A Poem by Hunter Jaine McCarthy

She passed me in the halls

Everyday

I saw her in the halls

But never acknowledged her

I don’t know anything about her

But her name

Never tired

To get to know her

One day I had everything

The next she had it

She had my friends

My a status

Most of all

She had my boyfriend

I couldn’t forgive her for it

I envied her

I hated her

I wished she were dead

Yesterday I got the news

That’s when my heart broke

When I was crushed

She had killed herself

She left a note

A note for me

She told me that

I was part of her plan

To make herself known

So she would be missed

She apologized to me

She was sorry to have used me

She hoped I would

Not hold a grudge

Then she thank me

And told me she was in a better place
