The Women Who Made Me.

The Women Who Made Me.

A Poem by Coco

Emily may have been first, though I likely didn’t know.

Margaret and Kate, who brought me Edna.

Tori. Godess, Tori.

Janis, Courtney, Alanis, Florence.

Sia.

Sylvia.

And the parts of Charlotte that shine through Jane.

Brene, Cheryl, Elizabeth.

Erica and her airplane.

Roxanne.

Alice, and Celie, and Shug Avery.

Maya.

Before me. Above me. Within me.

Thank you.

This seems a very personal poem - I'm familiar with most of these names - sources of inspiration shape who we are!
It is simple but powerful. well done.
My poem 'X59' is a more light hearted take on musical inspiration.
