Letting go.

Letting go.

A Poem by Coco

Love is surrender.
But I am highly walled.
Eager to welcome you into the fortress.
But unable to reach out beyond the parapet of my own construction.
Until suddenly.
I am lying prone
You are behind, above me.
Your hands completely cover mine, fingers tangled against the mattress.
I am unable to put up the guard,
The muscles of my body reacting with swift need to protect.
My birdwings desperately trying to wrap me up away from you,
But we are pinned down together as one,
And your breath is on my neck and in my hair.
I exhale and all the brick and mortar crumble to the ground.
My body recognizes what my fear cannot.
I yield. Release. Relief.
Physical surrender
Heart surrender.
Soul surrender.
Love is surrender.

Impulsively, "letting go" is mostly seen as a good thing.....though it can also be an escape......I love the truth expressed in this poem, as it is realistic, but I also see it as a warning, that some of the walls we put up are not necessarily a bad thing, and when we break them down, for whatever reason, we may become vulnerable to "attack"........

Beautiful poetry!
